How I Test

Slower than most sites, probably. I pay for subscriptions myself and use them for at least a month before writing anything. I run speed tests on the same servers at the same times of day, note what changes, and track what breaks. I've cancelled subscriptions mid-review because the renewal terms changed or support was useless. That kind of thing gets mentioned in the review.

Affiliate Relationships

Some links here are affiliate links. Click one, buy the service, I get a small cut at no extra cost to you. The commission doesn't determine what gets recommended. If a VPN underperforms, the review says it underperforms, whether there's an affiliate deal or not. I've dropped providers from my recommendations when they got worse, regardless of what the commission looked like.

How to Use These Recommendations

Everything here reflects my testing from Seattle, on my hardware, with my ISP. Your results will vary. I try to note when something seems like a location-specific effect versus a general product problem. Take the numbers as directional, not as a guarantee.
